Enough is Enough: A New Era
14th July 2012
After the worst season Arsene Wenger has ever had as arsenal manager last year, he still delivered the prestigious and coveted champions league spot to Arsenal Football Club.. But fights between fans at away games, Banners saying thank you Wenger but it's time to leave displayed and impatience with the football that was being played, still the french genius didn't want to leave the club that he loves so dearly.
The board however looked to the fans crying out for change as another trophy-less season came to an end their best player Robin Van Persie sold to a big rival, the board under pressure finally let go of their affinity with Wenger and after a long drawn out conversation between both Wenger and the Arsenal board a mutual agreement came into place.
However the appointment of unknown and unproven Northern Irish manager Jimmy Coyle caused a higher more powerful backlash amongst fans. Who was this manager brought in to replace the great Arsene Wenger??
To try and ease the fans concerns Jimmy released this statement:
"Dear Arsenal Fans, I know that you are both shocked and concerned at my appointment but this statement is designed to ease your concerns, I have looked at Wenger as an idol, I love this club and I love the way we play football none of this will change, young players will still have a home at arsenal and the possession game will remain at the clubs core. This is a new set of eyes on an old project.. Many of you were calling for a Wenger replacement after not winning any trophies for 7 years and I can tell you now this will end. Arsenal Football Club will have their name on a trophy within my contract terms of 2 years"
A very bold statement by the manager considering many of the fans consider Arsenal to be at their weakest since the last trophy was won.
The Board also released a statement regarding the appointment:
"We the Arsenal Board after many candidates have chosen Jimmy Coyle as the successor to Arsene. He brings to the table the passion, drive and determination of a young manager that loves both Arsenal Football Club and is out to prove himself. With a degree in Business and the Highest Coaching qualifications as a natural fan on the club we have decided he will be the one to take us forward"
